Write in Public even when your words embarrass You

Writing in public can be nerve-racking for early writers.

As a writer early in my career, I often wonder, what will people think? What if my work isn’t original? And most importantly, if it’s not my best work, why am I wasting anyone’s time?

The reason we have these hesitations is that early writers like myself often forget one thing.

Writing online does not entitle you to anyone’s attention!

In the sea of infinite content, no one entertains something they don’t like.

No one is forced to read anything they don’t want to. As internet users, We give our attention to things that provide us value. When it comes to writing on the internet as a beginner, it’s important to understand:

It doesn’t have to be your best work to deliver value.

We are often more critical of our work than the people that read it. When you publish something online, you never know what will resonate with who. On this journey as an online writer, remember:

Tip #1: Practice Online. The quality of your work shouldn’t make you hesitate to push publish. If it doesn’t add value, people will move on.

Tip #2: Master your Craft. Every piece of work is a chance for you to improve. Try different tactics, publish and see what happens.

Tip #3: Low Engagement is Good. The lower your numbers the better. Use these as a benchmark to improve. When you start adding more value, the numbers will go up.

Remember, this is practice, not perfection!

When you score a book deal, we can talk about the latter.
